What happened at each school last year
The published figures from last year's offers. They describe what happened then, school by school. They are not a forecast, and they say nothing about any one family's case. Waiting lists are kept in the order of each school's admission criteria (School Admissions Code 2021, 2.15).

- DfE's figures cover 40 schools for September 2026 entry. At 19 of them, every family who put the school first was offered a place there. At 21, some families who put the school first were not offered it.

Places offered and first preferences: DfE, Primary and secondary school applications and offers (school level, Open Government Licence). "Put it first, not offered it" is DfE's number of first preferences less its number of first-preference offers. Applicants refused: Islington's own offer-day tables, where we hold them; "not held" means we do not have the figure, not that it was nought.
Moving to Islington mid-year
Apply to the council, for any school. One council online in-year form (up to three schools) for all Islington schools; the council then sends the application directly to each school, which decides and writes to the parent with the outcome. No schools are named as needing a separate direct application, though some need a supplementary form returned to the school.
- Decision: "A decision should be made within 10 school days, but can take up to 15 school days in some cases."
- Proof of address: Council tax reference, or recent rent/mortgage statement or tenancy agreement (last 12 months), or two dated documents such as a utility bill or GP letter; plus proof the child lives with you, e.g. child benefit letter.
From Islington's own in-year admissions page (Not stated for in-year; page links the 2027-28 primary and secondary admissions guides. Waiting lists cleared each term.): read it there before you apply, as arrangements change each year.
