Moving to Reading mid-year
Apply to the council, for any school. Run by Brighter Futures for Children (BFfC), the council-owned company that delivers Reading Borough Council's children's services including school admissions (reading.gov.uk/inyearadmissions points there). Apply via the BFfC Parents' Portal for Reading schools; faith schools and Maiden Erlegh Reading need a supplementary form. No schools named as taking direct applications (independent schools apart).
- Decision: "In-year applications can take 15 school days to process." Apply up to four weeks ahead.
From Reading's own in-year admissions page (2026-27 (In-Year Guide 2026-27; "Applications for a place from September 2026 are now being accepted")): read it there before you apply, as arrangements change each year.
