Places offered and first preferences: DfE, Primary and secondary school applications and offers (school level, Open Government Licence). "Put it first, not offered it" is DfE's number of first preferences less its number of first-preference offers. Applicants refused: York's own offer-day tables, where we hold them; "not held" means we do not have the figure, not that it was nought.

Moving to York mid-year

Apply to the council, for any school. Apply online on the council's Parent Portal; the council looks for a place at each preference in turn and forwards applications for voluntary aided and academy schools (own admission authorities) to them for a decision. No schools named as taking direct applications.

  • Decision: "we will provide you with an application decision within 15 school days from the date of the accepted application." Applications accepted only 20 school days before the place is needed.
  • Proof of address: "We may require proof of residence for oversubscribed schools or where places at your preferred schools are limited."

From York's own in-year admissions page (Not stated.): read it there before you apply, as arrangements change each year.
