What happened at each school last year

The published figures from last year's offers. They describe what happened then, school by school. They are not a forecast, and they say nothing about any one family's case. Waiting lists are kept in the order of each school's admission criteria (School Admissions Code 2021, 2.15).

Places offered and first preferences: DfE, Primary and secondary school applications and offers (school level, Open Government Licence). "Put it first, not offered it" is DfE's number of first preferences less its number of first-preference offers. Applicants refused: Windsor and Maidenhead's own offer-day tables, where we hold them; "not held" means we do not have the figure, not that it was nought.

Moving to Windsor and Maidenhead mid-year

Apply to the council for most schools; some schools take applications directly. Run by Achieving for Children (AfC), the community interest company that delivers the Royal Borough's school admissions service (rbwm.gov.uk links to rbwm.afcinfo.org.uk). AfC handles in-year transfers only for a listed set of first, infant, junior and primary schools via its online portal; all middle, secondary and upper schools (and unlisted primaries) manage their own in-year transfers.

  • Decision: "We will contact you to confirm your child's school place as soon as possible, which may take a number of weeks." Apply up to one half-term (max seven weeks) before the start date.
  • Proof of address: Proof of current permanent home address; if it cannot be verified on the Council Tax database, evidence will be requested.

From Windsor and Maidenhead's own in-year admissions page (2026/27 (vacancy information and date-of-birth ranges for September 2026 to August 2027)): read it there before you apply, as arrangements change each year.
