What happened at each school last year

The published figures from last year's offers. They describe what happened then, school by school. They are not a forecast, and they say nothing about any one family's case. Waiting lists are kept in the order of each school's admission criteria (School Admissions Code 2021, 2.15).

Places offered and first preferences: DfE, Primary and secondary school applications and offers (school level, Open Government Licence). "Put it first, not offered it" is DfE's number of first preferences less its number of first-preference offers. Applicants refused: Hackney's own offer-day tables, where we hold them; "not held" means we do not have the figure, not that it was nought.

Moving to Hackney mid-year

Apply to the council, for any school. Hackney Education (the council's education service, education.hackney.gov.uk) runs a two-weekly in-year cycle for maintained schools and academies under its coordinated scheme; online form, with a Part 2 form from the current school. The Olive School is not in the scheme and is applied to directly.

  • Decision: "We process applications on a two weekly cycle" (published offer cycle timetable of cut-off, allocation and notification dates).
  • Proof of address: One of: council tax bill for this financial year, tenancy agreement, TV licence or P45/P60 or government document from the last 12 months, utility bill or benefit statement from the last three months (mobile phone bills not accepted).

From Hackney's own in-year admissions page (2025-26 (links the Scheme to Coordinate In Year Admissions 2025-26; read 19 Oct 2026)): read it there before you apply, as arrangements change each year.
